I've represented one of these guys after he got busted by the Coast Guard and dropped off in the Eastern District of Virginia. They do not pick geniuses to pilot these boats and they don't tell them shit other than where they are going and when they have to be there. They are paid literal pennies to transport tens of millions of dollars worth of product in hot rodded fishing boats. You're better off just blowing them up after listening in on their phone calls. The amount of time and effort it takes to interdict one of these things safely is just not worth it. Frankly, this should have been the initial policy.
