Y'know, after reading >>58208383 something dawned on me: is there any real way to address that whole thing about "a Pokémon Master is being friends with all Pokémon" without royally shitting on it?
The more I entertain it, the more impossible it becomes for me not to notice its rather obvious flaws.
>"The world is too big, how is Ash gonna accomplish it?"
>"Ash has already faced irredeemably evil Pokémon, wouldn’t that render his goal null?"
>"MPM ended with Ash failing to become friends with that one Latios, who no-sold his attempts at befriending him. Why in the fuck would he be determined to be friends with everyone?"
>"And even if the character hasn’t realised the flaws yet, the writers can’t just ignore it entirely if they bring him back, right?"
We all know the meta truth about what a Pokémon Master is (aka nobody at TPC or OLM knows), and what MPM offered was just a copout for the writers to retire Ash without sounding cynical or contradictory about it. So, yeah, it’s pretty much impossible for me to ever address the mess it is in writing, without coming off as wanting to shit on Ash and force him to try something else.
Have other anons thought about that?
