You’re partially correct.
Things to consider:
- The 2024 results cannot be fully replicated because the left-wing bloc fell apart in the meantime
- Macron could indeed be forced into a cohabitation but that doesn’t really make for a weak government. We had cohabitations in the 80s and 90s and it wasn’t as bad as the current crisis.
- If Macron resigns, there’s no way of predicting who would end up as the president. It’s simply not an option perceived as being on the table right now. He’ll stick to his position until the end of his term in 2027.
- Also Le Pen herself is currently ineligible.
