The story can be a bit absurd at times but his character writing is excellent. Even if a scenario is a bit over the top or silly, the way he writes the characters is so well done that suspension of disbelief comes naturally to players. That's what puts him on a whole different level compared to the rest of the WEG dev scene imo.
