>Thanks man. I really like your map, you must have a lot of exciting stories to tell. Please share some photos from Fiji and Tonga :)
Yeah for sure. I honestly have no exciting stories to tell since I only did the normie stuff, but it was an adventure nevertheless. Traveling to this part of the world was interesting & I'm glad it wasn't dull as people on /trv/ make it seem.
Fiji is honestly what you'd expect: tropical paradise, boat cruises, expensive. But it's not sovless. Locals were very welcoming and laidback, cuisine was delicious, and the airport was interesting.
It's interesting how Fiji and Tonga are practically neighbors but are very different. Fiji's islands are mostly mountainous. Then you see Tonga and realize how the environment changed quickly. Landing in Vava'u, you're greeted by cliffs, deep blue waters, islands filled with palm trees with no resorts in sight. Driving from the airport was wild. Unpaved roads, chickens, cows and pigs running about, a boring main town, no infrastructure for tourism at all. But I was there for the whale swim (which I saw plenty), so it was great.
If traveling around Polynesia wasn't so expensive, I could probably do 2 separate trips there per year. I'm already planning for another visit 2 years from now to other nations.
