my favorite vidya maps are the ones that are 100% just hallways in terms of places you get to go, but force you to go through a maze of tight winding corridors that the game's controls weren't designed for (and designed so that you can only see like 2% of the map that matters at most) with a bunch of useless dead ends with maybe some minor potion or other borderline useless "reward", and go through a lot of them via forced backtracking, all in one arbitrary order

complete with random encounters out the ass and a bunch of mandatory filler fights that don't include any rewards worth the time
