Anon that "vintage photo" is from a Toys R Us. Gamestop for the last 35 years have sold a large amount of merc, in fact back in the 90s and 00s most preorder bonuses were posters, key chains, toys, etc.

All that's changed was new toys and merc were made that wasn't like what you grew up with so you noticed it.
