I don't see many people mentioning this, but Charlie Kirk's influence over college republicans was immense. He had over 900 TPUSA chapters, his own PAC, and direct contacts with many government officials. He had one of the largest stakes in nurturing the molding the future leaders of America.

The Trump administration has been silently going to war against college campuses all across the United States for their support of Palestine in opposition to Israel. The Trump admin has forced mass staff firings, they've threatened the citizenship of many student bodies, threatened mass expulsions, and threatened funding to the top Universities to strong-arm them into becoming Israel First. This plan is all laid out in the Heritage Foundation's "Project Esther".

The framing the Trump admin has used in all of these endeavors is that they are fighting "Far-Left extremism and Antisemitism". If any major college Republican figures were to contradict this it would be a massive problem for them, and Kirk was beginning to do just that.

It has been well known for some time now that TPUSA has been getting infiltrated by Far-Right Nationalist youths who are critical of Israel. Charlie Kirk was never fully on board with this, given that he hosted several panels with Nationalist college Republicans basically PLEADING them to take a more moderate stance on Israel and the Jews, but he had to deal with it regardless and adjust his rhetoric accordingly to maintain his own legitimacy. If Charlie took a hard-line stance against his own base, it could be potentially career-ending. That's a big part of why he was slowly becoming more radical and beginning to question Israeli influence before his assassination.

I didn't like the guy and I disagreed with him on a lot of things, but he was just goofy to me.
I laughed when people made fun of him in a lighthearted way but I didn't hate him.
I didn't think of him as evil or malevolent.
I can't imagine anyone hating this dude enough to brutally murder him in front of his wife and children like that.
I do think between this and the poor Ukrainian women that we're going to see a shift in the Right.
