3D World is objectively not a real 3D Mario. It's an HD + co-op enabled version of 3D Land, which itself was a 3Dification of the New Super Mario Bros formula.

The Wii U never had a Mario 64, Sunshine or Odyssey style 3D Mario, which is what it needed.

You can go further and say Galaxy and Galaxy 2 aren't true 3D Marios either. Nintendo themselves don't classify them as true 3D Marios.
