so basically what i've realized about this game are a couple of core things
- they want to heavily encourage class archetypes; the witch summons zombies, the monk uses quarterstaffs, the warrior uses slams, etc
- the skill tree emphasizes this by making it entirely restrictive AND shitty as fuck, you could remove 75% of nodes on the tree because nobody will take those over the ones that are actually good and in range of their starting class
- support gems have become entirely superfluous just like in poe1; all interesting interactions like devastate + armour explosion or stomping ground + rake are instantly nerfed the next patch, leaving us with generic damage shit
this leads me to the only logical conclusion and nuclear level takes:
- they need to just get rid of the passive tree in poe2
- classes need to be locked into their own weapon types and skills, possibly branching with ascendances
it is so shitty to open the passive tree in poe2 and choose between "10% chance to gain 2 life on kill" and "minions gain 1% of damage as extra chaos every 5 seconds" or some shit
the poe2 devs have shown that they really fucking hate the core essence of poe1 which is the skill tree and gem system
so just get rid of it
the game would be better off for it instead of this half assed delivery
they also might as well just copy diablo/epoch/lost ark and have passive trees for their skills which could alter the gameplay drastically, and ascendancies might also drastically alter gameplay, like new weapons and skills or class gauges and stuff
that's where i'm at with this dogshit game, if they want the game to be that different from poe1 then they need to commit
but they won't because they're cowards and know this game won't live without the nostalgia of poe1
