Religions are man made institutions, with man made books. If you want proof of this, just look at the fact that both Judaism and Christianity command infant sexual mutilation ("circumcision"). You can speculate about heaven, hell, an afterlife, etc., but circumcision is a horrible reality both today and in known history.
