Sally's default concept is "Serious princess. Foil to Sonic"
Her actual effectiveness at this role is contested, but that is her role.
As we know, it's already taken up by a multitude of characters.
She debuted in SatAM. She already has a somewhat videogamey personality in the sense that she easily snaps back to her original settings regardless of how far along the season is (This is because SatAM is not designed to be watched in order)
Obviously, she'd be yet another serious counterpart to Sonic. Being a princess is another easy one.
People would probably love for her to still be flirty.
She was a strategist in all incarnations. In two out of her three major incarnations she has a short temper.
If we're assuming that SatAM must be respected in a "Sonic Team Sally" We should dump anything that originated in her Archie counterpart. No slapping. Less crying. Less possessive. Less dramatic.
She is still a person who gets angry at Sonic for his carefree nature. It's antithetical to her. All versions of Sally do not have the luxury of being carefree.
Take Knuckles. Make him a basic tech wiz (But not a supergenius like Tails). A woman who, like Amy, is not embarrassed to flirt with men.
Similarly to Knuckles she is wrapped up in a specific duty to such a degree that it may bring her at odds with Sonic, but it also might bring them all together.
She cannot be Sonic's love interest for obvious reasons. This isn't too much of a concern if SatAM is the template instead of Archie.
She is not afraid of Eggman at all. To a self-destructive extent. She may underestimate the doctor. This is consistent in all incarnations.
She will also frequently underestimate Sonic's abilities and intelligence.
Ben Hurst described that she doesn't have the ability to actually control Sonic. Just coax him and hope he goes along. That might be just fine for Sonic.
Reducing Sally to a basic character concept. She's a responsible, bossy, serious, and mother-like flirt.
