According to kouki there's only four games left: Tactics, Resonative, Duty Lost Arcadia and Integrate.
All four of these are currently planned to be SRPGs. Only Tactics is viable for newcomers that never heard of Muv-Luv or only through memes. It has an original storyline except it'll be kouki's writing filtered because he didn't know SRPGs can have a ton of text. With the same devs that brought us Mikhail, I can already predict the steam score. For the sake of argument let's say they shape up. Muv-Luv doesn't contract and manages to grow the brand a little, making people excited for the sequel to Tactics. That time won't come at all with current plans because it's only a standalone.
The rest are meant to be separate epic conclusions to bloated narratives. Resonative to The Day After, Duty Lost Arcadia to the Master saga started way back in Total Eclipse, and Integrate to all the Muv-Luv Kouki was ever involved in, including the previous. Saying there's a huge gap between releases is putting it mildly. Newcomers will have a giant backlog to go through to understand context and there doesn't seem to be any plan in place for getting newbies up to speed after the anime bombed. Does it make good business sense for such a radical retool at the last minute when it can alienate existing fans further?
