The deployment is supposedly planned for 2026, so these armchair warriors decided to "provide" for countermeasures. This picture has nothing to do with the official Russian authorities. The old Tech Gian stories might as well be lost media by this point. The Anime and the VN supplanted them, and as far as I can tell there's no examples of them online anywhere. They weren't even scanned the way Schwarzesmarken's LNs were.

I'm sure I at least had some raw scans of a couple of the Tech Gian chapters but they're on a PC in another country that I won't be able to get to for another 7 months.

Far as the TSF series are concerned, only the 5th and 6th interested me as they contain rather relevant backstories. I've got the SS from 3 & 4 already. Dunno anything regarding 1 & 2.

The main trilogy's LNs are all on E-Hentai. As is all of the Schwarzesmarken sidestories (seriously, why are all their backstories not in the VN proper, but relegated to LNs not everyone will have access to?) and even Owarinaki's LN for a surprising deep cut. But no Total Eclipse. It's funny there was no TDA LNs ever made.

Much thanks. Managed to find scans of Total Eclipse so it's alright there. Got some other stuff too, all which unfortunately are in pdf format, so I'll take sometime and convert them to clean epubs.
To summarize, just so we're all clear:

1. Schwarzesmarken novels = 11 volumes, one of which is an 'ultimate' edition
2. Total Eclipse = 7 volumes [ 1 extra supersized volume that's around 500 pages ]
3. TSF = 6 volumes, has some Schwarzesmarken side stories
4. Trilogy = 8 volumes [ 7 primary, 1 extra artbook with special stories ]
5. Regenerative = 5 volumes [ 1 extra, CODEX ]

All this for a total of 37 volumes.
That's enough to help out people starved for content.
Now, since it's all just LNs and artbooks, it's infinitely easier to handle than a VN. .. The only tedious part is converting the pdfs, scans et al into epubs before anything else. I can do the pdfs okay -don't know any 'quick' way to do it, but I can do it- though I'm not sure how to handle the scanned stuff.

New player here. Almost finished with Unlimited, and I wanted to share some of my thoughts.
Extra took some time to get through because it was pure SOL and I wasn't really pacing myself, so I would get burnt out and drop the game for a couple months. Unlimited did a much better job at mixing those SOL stories with an actual plot.
Still, I am glad I played through all of Extra and got to know these characters before jumping into Unlimited & Alternative. I think it also helps you empathize with Takeru's homesickness.
Oh and one thing Extra has over Unlimited is variation in the routes. It's cool that Unlimited has a single plotline that makes use of all the heroines, but that makes replaying it for all the different endings very predictable. Watching all the girls struggle with game-boy addiction gets old after the first or second time.

Muv-Luv's setting is not worth writing home about, but I never praise any franchise or book for it's "worldbuilding".

What Muv-Luv did well was the technical presentation of the visuals, having loads and loads of background CGs, moving characters around in the background during conversations like Mikoto moving around the tables talking in the base Cafeteria while Takeru talks to other girls. The mechs being broken up into multiple moving parts (only particularly noticeable during the opening scene with the frontal shot of the mech approaching the brains, and then when the mechs are jumping around during the shogun chase sequence). The other thing it does well is having full Japanese voice acting, and a soundtrack with an overall high than average hit rate. And then story wise, the highlight is the shogun chase sequence as the writer(s) successfully managed to ratchet up the tension there in, and the base attack near the end. Otherwise, the VN is overly long and boring.

It's not always shown but they did mention in the VNs that they can actually fly. It's just dangerous to cruise at altitude in combat, and a waste of fuel to hover when standing will do, so it's only done for rapid (re)deployment and most combat movement is boost jumps and extreme low movement (similar to a Dom). Finished Unlimited and am about 10 hours into Alternative. Skipping Extra would have been a terrible idea. Takeru having vague memories of his original world at first and then getting hit by nostalgia the more he dreams and remembers it really matches how my memory of Extra was fading as I got more engaged in the new setting. I read it recently enough that I don't think nostalgia is the word for seeing those scenes replay, but I have a fondness for them that does the job of putting me in Takeru's shoes.
I read that Unlimited's inclusion in the first game was kept secret, and with that in mind I can definitely forgive how much of it is just setup. I am curious if any of the spin-offs I'll play after Alternative have a brand new MC and the heroines are Takeru's five alternate timeline daughters.

So far, Alternative has done a good job mixing up the repeating events from Unlimited and bringing in more of the political intrigue we only got glimpses of earlier. I also enjoy how much Takeru has changed (it's definitely still him though) and the existential moments where he compares himself to who he used to be. He's really a man of two worlds now.

Played Girls Garden for like 2 hours to give it a fair chance, really not into it at all so I'm jumping off.
The characters and writing are just completely whatever and if the setting itself has anything interesting to offer it sure isn't showing it yet. Gameplay is not even worth mentioning. It's also extremely strange how you can instantly fuck every girl 800 times in complete standalone scenarios that will never be acknowledged anywhere.
The "Main character is from a main muv luv timeline and got shifted here" idea that the prologue hints at through him knowing what TSFs are and was kinda interesting is also either not the case at all, or the writers have already severely fucked up by writing filler dialogue about how, even despite his amnesia, remembers reading tons of harem LNs and manga.

As much as some people didn't want to admit it, Arknights is not the best fit for Muvluv tonally. To treat Muvluv with the respect it deserves you need to work with Extra, not Alternative. At this point Extra is decades out of date so you can't simply update it without losing something. This is also what made the other gacha suck, they stuck too rigidly to the original concept which shut newcomers out.
Taking the basic concept of a light-hearted start so people are lured in before ripping the rug out from under them is a good call. It's a shame it came so late and had to be cooked up by someone besides kouki who's gotten too drunk on the scifi when he needed to take a break from it. My assumption is that it'll obviously fail from factors like franchise fatigue but I wanted to say something in its defense because I think it would've been good to do much earlier. At the very least swap it in place of Immortals.

I can tell you one thing I wouldn't bother with, and that thing is a heavy visual novel. Schwarzesmarken showed age's limits and that thing was a huge mess where the only thing approaching a good ending for the protagonist happened during one route for one heroine after she was dragged through the mud in the anime, and none of it mattered judging from the teaser for DLA at the very end. That's an amazing waste of resources. In such an environment where visual novels are already a dying market, making another reviled flop would not be the way to go. By the same token making a "cheap" VN wouldn't be well received either as age staked its rep on its production values.

Truth be told Girls Garden isn't that far off from where I and others said ML should go a while ago. Alternative is like a black hole sucking out everything else about Muvluv. For over ten years it's been nothing but obsessing over linking back to the trilogy which means nothing matters outside of the trilogy. What could be really interesting is some of the shit mentioned in Kaseki no Uta. After humanity's galactic empire collapses, all these different branches of humanity go to war with each other over resources. And Exogularity also mentioned several post-human breeds like the 'Tuned" (espers) and the 'BETAbrids' (BETA/Human hybrids). So you could have something akin to All Tomorrows or Man After Man with numerous engineered post-human species. It could be done similar to Alternative, with an ordinary protagonist who finds his home invaded by these aliens from another world, and the twist is they're another branch of the human species that were engineered to go a different way. You can even include TSFs there, as our protag is drafted to pilot one. Have it go full Macross on that front.

There's so much potential in the setting, but again, the endless focus on the Muv Luv trilogy has doomed anything following it. I miss when Muv Luv was just a story in the overall Age catalogue given the same weight as KimiNozo or Rasen Kairou or any of the others they were putting out.

What even is Muv Luv now? It's funny that in a time when Muv Luv might be slowly becoming more relevant than it ever was before, it's moving away from its roots. If there's a war over Taiwan, then Japan will find itself at war for the first time since 1945. The message of the original trilogy about growing up and facing the horros of war without flinching will become pertinent for the first time in forever as Japanese people have to face war for themselves now the pax Americana is dying and their security guarantees are a lot of hot air. There's even a whole bevvy of new fighter planes to turn into TSFs for the first time in decades. The American F-47, Chinese J-36 and J-50, even the Tempest that Japan has bought into. And while all this is happening making such fertile ground for the frahcise to reinvigorate itself, it seems Muv Luv is moving away from all that, from relevancy. Likewise. Unlike honestly everything Muvluv-related since then it's a game that knows what it is. To be blunt I think it was a good call to stick purely to OCs because Muvluv doesn't exactly have a huge cast that can work with gacha, and on top of that once you add game characters it hurts the ability for gacha characters to shine on their own because the former has a large seniority factor and it takes years for gacha characters to build up their own level of relevancy.

Once Next Answer died the answer was not to keep relying on the VN characters hoping players would glean to them this time. While we're at it Avex never should have let Kouki get away with hiring that rando for Immortals, that was a huge scar on Muvluv that will take a long time to heal in the best of circumstances. As-is a DMM gacha is probably the most cost effective way to start restoring some trust.

Someone in charge didn't get that, and surprise, the VNs were a dramatic flop.

Screentime that could have, and should have, gone into letting her interact with other members of the cast and the return of Lacrosse was wasted on extraneous fluff that does nothing for the supposed heroine. Believe it or not, I'm 100% in agreement that Sumika could've been better handled in Alternative. That her bonds with her friends that were such a key component of Extra were completely lost, and the scene where S00mika was introduced to the Valkyries was completely mishandled. Sumika having no connection with anyone but Takeru and Kasumi was a giant waste. The loss of all of the girls during Kashgar should've affected S00mika as well, leading up top that moment at the end in the reactor chamber. But that has little to do with the attempts to turn Muv Luv into a franchise beyond Alternative, and how poorly that has turned out.

We're almost completely in agreement except that I think all of those missed moments you mention were symptoms of the fundamental rot that spelt the franchise's doom. Indeed it's questionable whether it ever had standing as a franchise. When you look at what MLA is in the context of what it was supposed to be, does it make sense for Kouki to have to sell his house to finance it for all the bells and whistles like a JAM Project opening and multiple animated cutscenes, or go on a massive cutting spree to the script so that it could remain within budget and stick to a consistent message?
The original lore for Unlimited was lightweight and flexible enough that it worked for the purposes of the plot that was focused on being separated from Sumika in a hostile land. But then all the additions for Alternative cause it to get lost in the weeds and become too focused on expanding a house of cards, ultimately resulting in kouki being unable to handle his debts and selling off his prized toys. Which brings me to this next point I find funny:

Partly because Meiya has the lion's share of moments in MLA while Sumika ends up playing second banana to Kasumi in the final battle. Which is of course partly because the writer has a massive Meiya bias which bled into bad decisions for the franchise because Meiya doesn't sell. Not nearly to the extent Sumika does. Part of the reason post-MLA stories are such a mess is because they kept honing in on the Meiya equivalent for the series and that simply wasn't popular with most readers. Bad decisionmaking resulted in MLA meandering, and that same bad decisionmaking resulted in the haphazard attempts to franchise a story that should've been able to fit into a single visual novel.

With the same devs that brought us Mikhail, I can already predict the steam score. For the sake of argument let's say they shape up. Muv-Luv doesn't contract and manages to grow the brand a little, making people excited for the sequel to Tactics. That time won't come at all with current plans because it's only a standalone.

The rest are meant to be separate epic conclusions to bloated narratives. Resonative to The Day After, Duty Lost Arcadia to the Master saga started way back in Total Eclipse, and Integrate to all the Muv-Luv Kouki was ever involved in, including the previous. Saying there's a huge gap between releases is putting it mildly. Newcomers will have a giant backlog to go through to understand context and there doesn't seem to be any plan in place for getting newbies up to speed after the anime bombed. Does it make good business sense for such a radical retool at the last minute when it can alienate existing fans further?

hi I just finished Unlimited. I loved the thematic connection between Extra and its ‘seize the present and be grateful that it existed, even if it were to disappear’ and Unlimited's idea that the world and our peace are built on the efforts of everyone, including those who are no longer with us, and that we must do the same for those who will come after us, as an expression of our individualism, because we are what surrounds us.
I really liked the extra routes of Chizuru, Sumika, and Tama. I like Meiya a lot, but I didn't feel that she stood out as well in her own route (extra) as she did in Sumika and Kei's.
Kei as a character in both games was the worst part of the game. She was fun as part of the group, but as a character on her own, I don't feel that she holds her own compared to the rest.
The ending of Unlimited feels a bit rushed, but I appreciated how it was presented, including how anticlimactic it was. Whether intentional or not, you can understand Takeru's frustration.

So there were planes in ML until 1973 and they even managed to inflict some damage on BETA, but then BETA lasers appeared and that was it. The Chinese and Russians, having lost their advantage in the air, lost the ability to contain the aliens, and the Yankees destroyed half of Canada to prevent BETA from landing in North America. Moreover, the failure of the Air Force became so obvious that the Western military had to urgently introduce combat robots into the battle as an alternative.

In addition, the Laser class turned out to be so dangerous for flights in the zone close to BETA that humanity preferred to develop aerospace systems such as shuttles for flights. Transport aviation was preserved/developed in rear countries. For example, when Japan became a frontline country, flights over it became very risky because of the BETA lasers on Sadogashima. Therefore, during the Sagiri rebellion, no one expected that the rebels would use transport aircraft for landing, since it was very risky.

The remake no have sex in it and its censored and the art and a bit of the text when it comes to referencing sex is either removed or censored (mikoto penis joke) And aside from a few changes in the alt fable remake there not much changed (I think?) I know there's a joke about knife attack in there that got changed to be better and not much else I can think of (I ain't sure) all I know is the og has sex in it and cunny and restored routes that were cut out of the remake and some scenes that were also removed and gutted in the remake that were in the original. Also I might be schizophrenic but I swear they got rid of some of the the ass shot spirtes in the remake.


But aside from that if you want alt fable on how it was when it was released with the added benefits of a patch that might have everything polished with only a few things slightly unpolished go for the original version. Also you can get a copy of alt fable on archive.org muv luv all the games are on there btw.
