>Company decides that its core consumer fanbase are basically serfs obligated to buy anything that has the "Bioware" logo on it for being "fans", and they should search for the fabled "wider audience" instead
>Fans start leaving as the games less and less resemble the games Bioware got famous for making
>Make a fucking Destiny knockoff no one wanted and no one bought
>Finally, as a last Hail Mary, make a "Dragon Age" game that looks nothing like Dragon Age and has made the full transition to particle effects button masher action bullshit.
>Worse, it's arguably a grimdark Dragon Age game being actively and obviously strangled by corpo adult kindergarten bullshit. The plot is that the world is being destroyed by eldritch abominations, while all your party members talk in something of a mix between having HR in the room and like they're in a children's TV show.
>One of the quests is to help one of your companions have an argument with her mom about gender identity at the dinner table, which becomes a viral meme
>No one fucking buys the game
Honestly, we should see more of this. If a company produces a product, and openly doesn't want you as their audience, you simply shouldn't buy their product. Let them go find their "wider audience." In fact, we should do this for shit like TV shows and movies. Making a movie or TV adaptation of something? If it makes even ONE change from the source material in the name of finding some "wider audience," simply accept that you are not the intended audience and do not watch it. If they openly boast of these changes, well then they've made it easy for you!
I'm glad people are finally finding some self-respect, and I hope to see more and more of it in the future.
