Freedom of speech = If you protested against Israel or wrote an op-ep about it the current government is currently busy revoking your green card and visa and deporting you. And often not even informing you that they’re doing that so one day ICE will just show up and arrest you for being “illegally” in the country. Same way they’re now actively censoring shit by removing words from government websites and documents or outright taking down pages. Like how they took down a page about Enola Gay because it had that word in it. Or how the administration put pressure on the museum to rewrite Trump’s impeachment display and is using political power to force schools to teach only what conservatives want to teach.
Right to habeas corpus = If you aren’t given a trial and can just be deported automatically because the government said you’re a criminal, that’s not exactly a great precedent when the government is currently constantly caught lying. ICE is constantly shown to be arresting actual citizens and we already know they mistakenly deport and even courts tell them to stop deporting people and facilitate the return of wrongfully deported people the current government just says “fuck you, I don’t have to do shit”.
I guess all the racist edgelord contrarians here just love living in a police state where the president can just order troops in and begin harassing citizens because the colour of their skin. Where just looking brown-ish is enough for masked, unidentifiable people with guns stop you and try to break into your car and start shooting at you if you don’t genuflect and let them do whatever they want.
