2 was objectively the best, and the ps2 port mogs the shit out of the pc port. Better graphics, more levels, better level select. Iirc the level select menu is that you can just simply choose a level on the pc port. On the ps2 port, it in itself is a "level", where you can move around and it is connected to all other levels. So instead of pressing left and right, you have to move to the "gate" of the level you want to play.
