I thought that's what they were going with for a moment, when the recording crew showed up in the hollow out of nowhere as Fufu beat the guy... honestly, considering how the animated cutscene was remarkably short, how the crew going back makes no fucking sense, and how the CG scene afterwards feels completely disconnected, I imagine there were some late-stage rewrites and development issues

Also during the quest they keep bringing up the exaltists, talks about the issues they caused recently, and even mentions the Temple people recently having saved everyone, which makes sense... until it's revealed that the whole quest took place several months ago before the proxies even arrived, so it retroactively makes no sense
