every media you've ever purchased in your life has been "access" not "ownership". you may "access" the media, you may transfer "access" to the media, but you are never granted LEGAL OWNERSHIP of that media as the result of purchasing "access".
you work in IT (allegedly) you should know better. buying a software doesn't mean you can repost said software in depository. buying a software doesn't mean you can engage in tertiary monetization with said software. buying a software certainly doesn't grant you the legal right to make edits to said software. why? because you don't own the legal rights to it.
and you never will. because buying "access" is never the same as "asset transfer".
