I think it's become endemic to these platforms. pic is just an example that showed up on my feed but I follow dozens of artists that would be the top 0.001% of /ic/ - just great artists with tons of appeal, some with thousands of followers, getting like <50 impressions (not even views) on a drawing.
50 views is what I used to get 3 years ago on a dumpster-tier sketch.

Like it doesn't seem that skill has anything to do with it people seeing your stuff, most of these artists are also hyper-focused on certain fandoms like you said
it pisses me off I just don't know what to do besides stick to fucking Discords and post it to my art friends.
