The IDF continues to expand the circle of combat: according to the evening's publication in i24news, the Planning Division of the General Staff approved the official establishment of the "Atzmon Battalion" – Infantry Unit Reserves Dedicated to fighters aged 50–55. The battalion, which began its journey at the beginning of the "war"Iron swords"As an irregular voluntary force, it will now move into an operational path and be converted into a combat unit within the framework of the defense system of the country's borders.

Potential of thousands of fighters
According to the approved model, the battalion will consist of older fighters with a combat background, where the age of command can reach even beyond ־55. The IDF estimates are that the real recruitment potential for this age group stands at over ־3,000 fighters – personnel who can reinforce the IDF in the rear and deep, especially against the background of the ongoing manpower crisis since the outbreak of the war.
