Why are you in denial about what it was trying to do? It tries to change several things from vanilla FC3 to make it like a 90's FPS but utterly fails at them. FC3 works because you're playing ostensibly a human person and in Blood Dragon you're playing a cyborg, yet you still do things like carry 4 weapons and are unable to run and shoot at the same time.
