you need to understand that the amount of timelines in umamusu are so many that trying to make sense of it as a singular chain of events is just a waste of time, they all can blend together at some point or another and a second later youre in the middle of some weird limbo where theres nothing going on and theyre just normal girls going to school.
the best you can do is more or less try to comprehend what goes on in each individual timeline because it most definitely wont fit with whatever story you read/watch next, sometimes the game will show you actual races that went down IRL with the girls and then you have things like the main story or the "timeline" of the uma youre playing with in career, unironically just have fun with the horses and dont think too much about it because it's gonna be a headache thats not worth dealing with
