With how much of it is already pretty modular, it's surprising they didn't add a monster spawner thingamajig. Clearly they had some idea to spawn monsters in a level suddenly out of nowhere. Did they not think about coding it when creating levels with teleportation closets? Did nobody there think "man it'd be so much easier if I could just place down one entity and customize it to spawn monsters when triggered" while mapping?
