Fates has the actual gameplay meme in Conquest and some likeable characters. I doubt it'd succeed either though, despite the sales it was controversial even in its time. You don't know it sucks until after you buy it.
I still prefer it to Engage overall. I can't believe I'm saying that but I do. I fucking hated Fates like you wouldn't believe on release. But in retrospect Engage was worse. Fates is merely taking a shit while Engage is taking a shit on the rest of the series.
Fates = whatever the worst Disney original film is
Engage = live action remakes of Disney films
