Eldar think Humans are violent savages. They'd still prefer to live peacefully with them if possible, and if not for the Imperium there's likely be far more situations where the two races coexist.
In regards to Eldar writing, it's in the same situation as Tau; if written logically they're immediately better 'good guys' than the Imperium, which GW doesn't like for marketing reasons.
