Fighting games are dead because with a wide enough skill gap, the worse player literally does not get to play the game. They eat shit immediately, lose every interaction, every action is the wrong action, and they sit in the corner getting combo'd to death where there's nothing they can do.

Block? You get thrown or frametrapped to death. Press a button? Eat a meaty. Keep blocking like a turtle? Eat insane long blockstrings with dozens of mixups (often compounded with setplay bullshit).

Furthermore, when I say "wide enough skill gap" it doesn't even need to be that wide for a total shutdown to occur. This is a fundamental flaw that no amount of bandaid solutions like Burst or DI can solve.

Losing should be fun but fighting games don't even let the loser play unless it's a hyper-popular game with a massive ranked population that allow for close matches.
