The problem with "Turn the other cheek" is that people take it as some kind of hard rule.
It makes perfect sense if you just think in terms of "What would you do if family struck you?"
You might not necessarily "turn the other cheek", but the answer is more complicated than just "fight back" because you care about that person, and that's the whole point Jesus was trying to make with that: Subtilize your reactions and treat ANY HUMAN as if it was your brother who struck you.
"Universal Forgiveness" is just the most marketable part of the more important concept of "Universal Human Brotherhood".
