It's just a knife, it really doesn't matter that much

It's an old design, the only real downsides is it's heavy and not as tough as something simpler/lighter. It's still a big knife that'll cut.

If you need something to use as a prybar look elsewhere, otherwise sure it's fine. I swear most people would probably be ok if they brought a kitchen knife out into the woods.
