Pretty much. It's a little stupid, but it's a reasonable amount of stupid, not full retard. I see lots of news headlines about economic downturns and hard pullbacks, but in reality, people still retain their jobs, they pay bills, and they have too much month at the end of their money because they really, REALLY wanted that shiny thing on layaway (probably BNPL these days), or they paid for a $80k car because they fell for the Tiktok monthly payments grift.
I use my own work hours to gauge sentiment. I work an extremely stable job these days, so I'm insulated from a lot of this. I literally did not notice any turbulence in my life for the past six years aside from news and hearsay. Never even worried about a layoff or downsizing. When it reaches even me, I'll know something got very stupid.
