If it had a high "hump" receiver bridge for the clip, like mine, then it was a Model 1903 carbine, made by Mauser Oberndorf between 1904 and 1909. Apparently they made 175,000, and a chunk of that total were originally carbines. But I'm sure some were converted to cabines during their 8mm update & refurb in the 1930's. Some say they're among the smoothest Mauser action out there, and I agree- despite being parts mixed from refurb & storage, they are quite smooth.
