Something very important I learned over the past year is that the difference between "good" games and "bad" games isn't that the first kind are perfect and the other kind are not, it's all about the attitude of the fanbase and genre preferences. If you take feedback on a platformer game from some faggot who only plays shooters he's going to scream your head off about there being no gameplay, but platformer fans are going to endlessly praise it. People are willing to overlook a lot of flaws in games that have gameplay that they enjoy. On the other hand people who don't have any experience in a genre or don't have the experience needed to play a genre are going to throw melties because they hate running into their own limitations
