NATO has tricked and backstabbed Russia on multiple occasions.
A lot of promises were made that eastward expansion wouldn't go on, yet it always did.
As far as I understand, Putin is stretching the Ukraine war out on purpose.
He is unironically the one that wants security guarantees. Invading the core of Russia through Ukraine would be super easy for NATO, this is why Russia desperately had to stop Ukraine joining it.
What is now going on in Ukraine is desperate defensive Russian imperialism.
They will not randomly invade a NATO country and activate article 5 like a bunch of retards, that would be too much.
