Unlike souls games the traversal and platforming is just as important to the fabric of Silksong as the boss fights are. You can hate the runbacks if you want, but I got a lot less frustrated when I started looking at them as "phase 0" of a boss. Whether you realize it or not, striving to do your runbacks efficiently is sharpening your ability to move around in the game just like fighting the bosses is sharpening your ability to succeed at the combat.
