Totk lore really feels like they have a stick on their shoulder over the early games and how there's still people who prefer how zelda used to be. And the new hyrule warriors makes it clear they've trying to double down on it being the original hyryule, original ganondorf and everything. They could have just let it sit at the end of the timeline, but they had to take a steaming shit on the rest of the series.
