Making better media would give them another decade or so of wiggle room, but not fix the underlying problems. Know why games are filled with "subversive" messages? Because the devs are on twitter all day and they're trying to impress their twitter friends and enforce twitter based morals in reality. That literally means TWITTER is the real major player media, and the game is downstream that. If they stepped back for a second, they'd put 2 and 2 together, and realize that social media is 100x more influential than the game they're working on.

We moved to a social media based society, and 5 tech companies are going to own everything, control all our media, and a handful of algorithms will determine everything. That's dystopian as fuck.

I remember the promise of the internet was to break free of media monopolies, and "MSN", while they ended up working too well, and destroyed it, but replaced it with something 100x more toxic.
