Technically, but "Jew" in the context of the New Testament has something of a different meaning. Modern Judaism is not the same as the Judaism in the Bible. Modern rabbinical Judaism is the modern descendant of the Pharisee sect Judaism in the New Testament. A sect Jesus refers to almost exclusively as "the hypocrites." The sect lead by Christ would open its doors to all nations who would believe, while the Pharisees remained closed to ethnic Jews and became the modern Judaism of today. To claim that Jesus was a Jew in the modern sense of the term is disingenuous. He may have been ethnically Jewish, but he was not religiously Jewish in the modern sense, who would have been the Pharisees, who Jesus condemned repeatedly in the highest terms.
