I imagine all kinds of stuff could be made, like house looking like predators/obnoxious animals, covered with poisonous weed/fungy, hidden with null-odors, etc

I think that's a good point, some monster aren't really dangerous if you know where and what they are, like slimes. Slow, water based (perhaps salt, like a slug, would destroy them?) but in a dark, deep cave and when you are sleeping...
