Okay, so by then AAA was practically a ruined company. They didn't have a meaningful roster of their own. Do you know AAA's roster back then? AEW sent its best to Mexico. Did you know that Kenny Omega as Megacampeon was a meme that no one believed possible because of how absurd it sounded? Before the alliance with AEW, Omega was declared the best wrestler in the world. People here had fun thinking that Kenny Omega would be Megacampeon someday, the joke of that was thinking about the biggest star in the world (at that time) wearing the belt of the worst company in the world (AAA). Well, that did happen, because Tony Khan was always willing to send us his best talent and help AAA grow.

On the other hand, AAA didn't really have anyone to send. Only El Hijo del Vikingo (after he gained value and some fame as a wrestler after Omega named him as someone he would like to have a match with). Do you remember that horrible match where a girl named "Reina Dorada" showed up and proved she couldn't do a shit? She wasn't even signed to AAA. At the time, Tony Khan asked for Psycho Clown and Pagano, but AAA refused to send them. This is because AAA doesn't like any of their stars to grow too big and they prefer to keep them small so they can control them with blackmail and manipulation. An example of this were Pentagon and Fénix, who became stars in the United States and around the world, and then returned to AAA (but this time as STARS and as part of AEW) setting their own conditions. If it had been for AAA, they would never have become stars.

What ended up spilling the glass of water was what was recently revealed about the night where Dragon Lee threw away the AEW tag team belt to announce that he was leaving Mexico/AAA/AEW for WWE. All this while Konan didn't stop throwing shit at AEW and Tony Khan for a couple of years at least while both companies had an alliance. That's what happened in general terms.
