I was in the same situation as you and just pirated it.
Used Peacock to play Freelancer mode and even got to level 100.
I think both DODI and Fitgirl have releases that includes both the full game and Peacock.

I would've bought the H3 levels gladly but IOI are going to be a dick about then I ain't paying a cent.
