Yeah, you've got the essence of it. Watch some Osho vids on meditation if you want ("you are on the hills, the action is happening in the valley)." Simple practice: twenty minutes everyday go into the indian sitting posture. Soften the whole body and release tension (esp. forehead and jaw). Lightly focus your attention on the meditation object (I like to do eyes open so like a plant pot or door or shaft of light coming under a door in a darkened room; you could use the droning of an AC system etc.). Lightly focus on the object, not deliberately thinking, visualizing anything, and "soak in" all the passive sensory inputs coming in. Soak in the peripheral, but remain lightly focused on the object. If thoughts drift through, don't engage and just watch them pass with the inner eye. Twenty minutes to an hour if your legs and butt can withstand it. Best of luck friend.
