They're going to fold in on themselves when it releases to the stable branch and the review score plummets. If they haven't already polished or pulled all of the teeth out their new mechanics (and rendered the actual content accessible within a few hours, undermining the entire internal design goal of the update which was to make it more interesting long term) then they will surely do it then in capitulation.
Their scam is finite and closer to its end than it's start; they've gotten as many eyes as they're ever going to get on the game and already made their millions. There will never be another playerbase jump like in B41, especially when B42 is the follow-up to what was at the time an unprecedented content update for the game, "closer to a sequel" by Lemmy's own words. When B42 is sat in a "finished" state next to B41, its flaws will become more glaring to the masses.
The reality is almost nothing the update has actually added to the game beyond flavor. This is old hat for those of us who have been watching the dumpster fire for years, but there's going to be a lot of newer, unhappy faces who expected something more.
