valve index earspeaker drivers in a prototype case
https://www.valvesoftware.com/en/index/deep-dive/ear-speakers
they're very good for their task of replicating real-world audio, it's like ear speakers >>> on-ears > over ears with positioning to the pinna > IEMs (you cant add your own HRTF, but I assume if you could IEMs would be higher)
>There's no reason that needs to be a thing it's presumably still 2 central/main drivers per side
VR games. you're sacrificing normal audio to be able to compute "real" audio positioning in a 3d space. Different from shit like atmos, although maybe you could find a way to render that in a VR version of cavernize or something.
if you put normal audio though those drivers, it'd need to be EQ'd to hell and would sound like those other earspeakers with moveable driver positioning that sacrifice a lot for perceptual soundstage.
