the term voices is a bit of a misnomer, they're not just voices. Human consciousness only controls a small fraction of the mind, but the voices have the capacity to control the entire mind. This is well understood in the scientific literature. I'm literally a slave to my voices, I physically have to do everything they want, I don't have a choice.
