I think the main issue one could posit is all the cards were on the table by the end of 2.0. We knew le church was bad, we knew leviathan and imperator were some weird shit that were intertwined. I don't think a single NEW plot point has come up since 2.0. There's been revelations (cantarella is actually a good guy, all of carty's lore, etc), but the goal in 2.0 is the goal now.
It allows for strong characterization, though. Everyone gets an arc, a hero moment, a chance to shine. The downside is that the through-line narrative comes off weaker, but 1.X didn't even have a through-line due to rewrites. 1.0 goes into 1.1, 1.2 is actual filler, and 1.3 is a stand alone with 1.4 being a side story to it (plus somnoire).
