A Russian gemologist is crying because she will be forced to pay VAT at an increased rate in 2026. According to her, many small businesses will have to close due to the loss of patents and preferential turnover.
Starting in January, VAT in Russia will increase from 20% to 22%, and the threshold for paying it will drop from 60 million rubles ($745.3 thousand) to 10 million ($124.2 thousand). This means that small businesses will now have to pay this tax.
