Luffy's first reaction is nice and she's officially introduced as a girl in literally the same scene. The problem and a reason Yamato is such cancer is that no other characters have this reaction to her declaring she is a man. Everyone should be like "wtf are you retarded?" but instead Oda is walking on eggshells and basically makes characters le respect her pronouns

Like in this scene the only reason Franky and co are shocked is because she says she is related to Kaido, no one questions that she is a guy
