They keep adding more characters to 4 and not a single new map when its biggest flaw is that it doesn't cover more arcs and barely has any maps and most maps it has suck with annoying backtracking and corridors

3 covers the entire manga (down to smaller arcs like Loguetown), has all the characters you could want from the start, better map design and NPC behavior so that there is actually some strategy involved (in 4 your NPC soldiers and allies are pretty much broken and don't do shit), and it has better dodge mechanics and dodge offset, something 4 for some reason got rid of, which actually makes it clunkier than 3 even though it tries to be more fluid

The supposedly good additions in 4 are jumping, which is actually pretty pointless in this type of game, and the class system, which is also pointless in this type of game and just imbalanced and sucks

The biggest issue of 4 is that it feels incomplete. Not every character has what even feels close to a complete set with several characters since the game has 2 big additions which is air combat and transformations but characters that should have transformations like Chopper and Carrot don’t and several characters just don’t have air combat as an option. There are several other issues to me like the maps, side objects not mattering, the whole way that Musous and skills are handled but from the second I started playing the game the issues I mentioned have bothered me.

I had a strong dislike of the first DLC pack because it just added characters and not any content like the Nintendo Musous especially since PW4 is imo content lite. Season 2 at least released with a separate Content DLC so it made it better but as of now we have nothing for Season 3 so it is fucking retarded. We are having an egghead pack with no Egghead.

Wano had such absurdly bad pacing Oda had to formally apologize and guarantee that he will cut to the chase from now on. It's one of the most isolated arcs in the manga - literally as part of the story - and it's the one that introduces the most side characters and subplots that the reader knows will be completely irrelevant in the future. It's like Skypiea but way longer and, instead of pure adventure, a generic weeb setting - the setting most at odds with what makes One Piece great. It's also at odds with something One Piece promised not to be and feels way too much like Luffy playing hero and saving random people in need.

It was almost scientifically engineered to be a bad arc.

Literally the opposite, 3 literally has Souls dodging and dodge offset like Bayonetta instead of the braindead hundred-yard dash, character-specific stuff like Luffy's charge combos, storing Zoro's UA without getting hit, endless combos with Sanji or Tashigi, trying to make Marco work with cancels, etc., map design and AI actually allows for some strategy and you constantly have to weigh up who you can rely on and who you have to help (just see the start of Enies Lobby where you should help your people on the right because there is a giant while the other two can actually take in the area on their own)

I think that's just a dumb misconception. PC version is based on the PS3 version and even has sharper textures here and there, obviously higher res and even more enemies afaik. It's just not based on the PS4 version (with that stupid overexposed lighting and bloom) and some people spun this into "it's based on the Vita version" for maximum shit- and doomposting

The problem with the PC version is
1. some graphics effects are buggy and missing, especially in cutscenes (DOF blurs out the thing in the front sometimes or also the sketch/manga effect in cutscenes look messed up IIRC), and
2. that the controls are broken and it's impossible to bind shit so it plays like intended on console. Though there is an easy workaround for this: Click game in Steam when it's in your library, click controller settings (your controller has to be on for this to show), download a community control scheme (the one that has something like "menu fix" in its name is the best one I think). Done. Only problem then is that controlling the camera with right stick is still a bit janky and too hard because it emulates a button press, but you might be able to fix that too in Steam

Just emulating the PS3 version or especially the Switch version might be better if you don't want to get it on console

Actually I played PW3 and 4, but 4 did have really fun additions to the combat even if it’s still a musou. There’s just a lack of things to do and I really hate the “what-if” stories even if Wano’s was better than Dressrosa’s in 3. But I haven’t played 4 since 2022, which was before the DLCs. Pirate Warriors 5 should not come out until the series is over, and if it had a mode where you start a crew with a character and then can recruit others as you travel the seas for the one piece, it’d be cool.

Feels good to see people shitting more on 4 as time goes on. Even back when it first released, I was none to happy with how much it took away from the series and some of the newer things were worse than the old stuff. So many stages suck total ass, the "power" dodge and run are inferior to the old one, and not only did the gut the fucking roster but they absolutely crippled a huge chunk of the ones that remain. The game focuses so much on aerial combat but they couldn't even be fucking bothered to give everyone an aerial moveset, what the fuck. My man Franky didn't deserve having his SUUUUUUUUPAAAAAAAAAAH combos torn away from him. There are good things in 4, but they fucked up so much that it felt like one step forward, three steps back.

PW4 is the most incompetent feeling Musou I have ever played. I’m glad you think the combat 4 is better but the loss of dodge offset and heavy strings for air combat when not every character even having access to air combat was a major downside. Even on its own air combat is meh simply because its uses are limited to really only being effective on captains because you have a tendency to miss mooks because the initial jump is just too high. But even outside of that this game has more problems that just did not exist before.

I really don't understand why they haven't bothered to sell costumes packs in PW4. It's practically an industry standard at this point, and free money.
Even if they did the lowest effort thing imaginable, and ported all the PW3 costumes over to PW4, I would buy that shit for $10 easy. I don't get why DLC costumes seems to be a dead thing for musou games now. WO4 had fuck all, SW5 had none, DW Origins had none, AoC had none.
