GTK2 is effectively dropped, even lxde apps like pcmanfm are using GTK3 theming now also the packaged version of urxvt (9.31) shipped with a years old bug that screws up the scrollback buffer and also draws the prompt halfway down the screen

Why is urxvt drawing the prompt halfway down the screen?
I already tried xterm, and other shells, it only happens in urxvt even without .Xresources loaded.
Also GTK2 is functionally gone, I don't wanna upgrade anymore.
