Yeah, the difference between an elder brain and a Netherbrain is explained, and why one person wielding the stones vs three is as well.

It's not that you need three people. The Crown originally was one piece back when it was forged, the Chosen actually split it apart so they each had a piece as part of their pact. But the reason you cannot dominate the brain when you have all 3 pieces is that the brain has evolved past that point, so it thinks faster and more varied than you can, so it resists your efforts. This is why you need to either give the stones to Emperor so he can do it, or become an illithid yourself to expand your mind's capabilities, or convince someone else like Karlach or Orpheus to become one. One normal mortal with a normal brain doesn't cut it anymore trying to compete with the brain, even with the help of the crown.

I don't think it needs to be an explicit list. You can use your discretion whether you think a human gm would allow you to do what you're doing.

For example, taking a bunch of smokepowder barrels out of your inventory and placing them around someone would obviously not work. They would stop you. Even if you were invisible, the barrels wouldn't be.

Just ask yourself "Does this make logical sense, or am I cheesing?" and that rule of thumb will guide you in like 90% of cases.
